At RVC Outdoor Destinations, we pride ourselves on providing the best camping resources for family vacations. We offer many different accommodations across our various locations to suit any vacation style, and you may be trying to decide what’s best for your family trip.

When it comes to our yurts and cabins, there are so many great things to love about either, so how could you possibly choose between the two? Let us help you out with that, as we break down the pros and cons of both to help you narrow down which type of space is right for you.

Yurts Offer a Unique Camping Experience

How does a yurt differ from a cabin? Well, yurts are akin to tents with a round shape and options to sleep between four to eight people. However, this tent-like structure has the basic necessities you’d need for a relaxing getaway in nature, such as climate controls, a nearby bathhouse, wooden floors, windows, furnishings, and some comfortable beds and linens so you rest well.

It’s perfect for the family looking to be a little closer to the outdoors, without the worry of weather, pests, or dirt. Our yurts even have skylights to view the stars at night and easy access to fire rings, picnic tables, and decks to enjoy nature and the camping experience with a space more suited to your comfort.

Something to note though is that our yurts are in a semi-private space surrounded by trees, so if something with more privacy or a few more indoor amenities, you may want to check out our cabins.

Cabins Provide More Amenities and Privacy

Although a bit more costly than yurts, cabin rentals are well worth the shift in budget. Our cabins come fully furnished, along with a bathroom, washer/dryer, kitchen, flat-screen TV, and fresh linens for your comfort. Plus, they’ve been built with energy efficiency and environmental-friendliness in mind! Compared to the yurt, the cabins offer more privacy, amenities, and space for your family.

However, cabins can sleep anywhere between two to six people, so keep that in mind when planning for a large group. You can still enjoy natural space with the outdoor BBQ grill, picnic table, and fire ring for daytime gatherings or cozy nights making s’mores.

Planning Your Family Vacation

If the coziness and closeness to nature are more appealing to you for your family vacation, then yurts are a great option. Plus, yurt rentals are a more budget-friendly vacation idea. For those searching for more privacy and “home away from home” amenities, our cabins will provide just that. Like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, it’s all about finding the space for you and your family that’s “just right.” Both offer the perfect solutions for whatever family vacation you have in mind!
