Visiting Yosemite National Park

Due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases in CA, the decision was made to close the campgrounds and hotels within Yosemite National Park. The park remains open between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm for day-use visitors. Day-use permits are not currently required. The Yosemite Shuttle service through the park is not in service. Restaurants will remain open for delivery and take-out only. This park access policy will remain in effect until local conditions improve. These changes go into effect on December 7, 2020.

Cottage located at Yosemite RV Resort

All visitors planning trips to Yosemite are asked to be our partner in recreating responsibly. Yosemite National Park conducts many search and rescue missions each year, many of which could be avoided. It’s critical that we make wise choices to everyone out of harm’s way.

Please follow these #RecreateResponsibly tips:

  • Adopt social distancing practices and stay at least 6 feet from people
    outside your household unit
  • Wear a face covering when social distancing cannot be maintained.
  • Stay on the trail, for your safety and the safety of others
  • Stay within your limits. Yosemite is a great place to find outdoor adventure, but please don’t push yourself beyond your physical limits.

Yosemite RV Resort – A Sheltering in Place Option

We understand that many of our RV guests do not have a sticks-and-bricks home to which they can return. Yosemite RV Resort is currently accepting Long Term Guests who have been displaced or who are working in the area due to the recent Creek Fire. At Yosemite RV Resort, we are fully committed to your safety. We have put in place procedures (Per CDC Guidelines) to ensure you can relax and enjoy your time at Yosemite. Our staff has implemented new cleaning, remote check-in, and social distancing policies to keep our guests and employees safe.

Winter Road Condition Updates

Park officials also warn about traffic congestion —up to two to three hours—particularly around Yosemite Valley and at park entrances. All of the typical winter activities will be available, including day hiking, daytime rock climbing, bicycling, sightseeing, etc. You can check current road conditions here.

Tioga Road and Glacier Point are currently closed for the winter season. Tioga Road closes due to snow, usually from sometime in November through late May or early June. The road closure extends from the Tuolumne Grove, just east of Crane Flat, to Tioga Pass Entrance Station. (Highway 120, the continuation of the Tioga Road outside the park. This is often closed in winter from Tioga Pass to five miles west of Lee Vining.)

When the Tioga Road is closed, it is not possible to drive to Tuolumne Meadows or enter Yosemite from the east. All other park entrances, including those along Highway 120. From the west, Hetch Hetchy, Highway 140, and Highway 41 remain open all year.

Glacier Point – A planned closure will happen during 2022 and 2023 for maintenance of the infrastructure of the road. Here are more details about this project.
